POSITION: SBDC Center Director
Description of Duties: 65% - Small business advising responsibilities include: Maintains strict confidentiality policies relating to business & office interactions. Provides one-on-one confidential client consultation which includes business plans for strategic planning & financing, marketing, accounting, finance, cybersecurity, production, and facilities management for existing and prospective businesses. Client consulting can take place face-to-face, via email or technological means, or by phone. Works on attaining individual consulting goals set forth by the State Director. Delivers training in workshops & seminars designed to enhance one-on-one consulting efforts & build the client portfolio. Partners with state-wide network team to develop best practices. Works with clients to leverage financial opportunities, including commercial lending, state and federal incentives, grants, etc. 20% - Effectively lead & manage the day-to-day administration & reporting operations of the SBDC center which includes: Preparing or reviewing financial reports for each funding source and submitting to the State Office by due dates specified in the policy and procedures manual. Coordinating financial reporting with the host institution. Prepare and maintain office budget. Active participation in the management of the regional service center budget in coordination with the Associate State Director as well as local host institution officials. Manages the portfolio of clients through the management information system database, currently Center IC, by insuring the integrity of the data including but not limited to current contact information of the client, entering narratives of client sessions on a timely basis, collecting & reporting impact from clients, & updating client business status. Coordinating the recruitment process with the State Director to fill vacancies as soon as possible. Managing the performance of staff to deliver the required level & quality of services, timely data entry, & ensuring they receive appropriate professional development & evaluation to meet SBDC standards. Submitting time & effort & host institution leave reports by due dates. Supervising the collection & forwarding of data to the State Office for required reporting as specified in the policy& procedures manual. 10% - Participation in SBDC statewide initiatives, staff meetings, professional development, surveys, marketing, America's SBDC functions &similar activities. Promotes an understanding of the critical aspects of the SBDC statewide partnership. Works with the State Office to develop & implement promotional and advocacy activities to create awareness of the SBDC & its services throughout the business and financial community. 5% - Engagement and service to the host institution to promote programmatic outreach & other areas such as special committees or initiatives where connection to the SBDC mission is apparent. Additional performance responsibilities (functions, duties): Attendance & Dependability: The employee can be depended upon to report to the assigned duty station at the scheduled time. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, & thorough manner & is conscientious about assignments. Communication & Contact: The employee communicates effectively & professionally both verbally & in writing with superiors, colleagues, & individuals inside & outside of the University. Relationships with Others: The employee works effectively & relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, & individuals inside & outside the University. The employee exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others& works to maintain constructive working environment. Provides exceptional customer service & client satisfaction. Manage multiple concurrent projects & meets deadlines. Safety: Employee works safely, attends safety training offered/required, & follows appropriate safety rules & regulations. In relation to level of NIMs training completed, participates in incident management preparation/performs other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: 2 years of prior experience as a SBDC advisor and/or similar organizational experience. Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline. Prior business management and supervisory experience. Must have current driver's license, personal computer skills, professional communication ability and the ability and willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings
Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in Business Management or a closely related discipline. Five years small business ownership or management experience to include management, payroll, accounting, marketing. Experience as a commercial loan officer or other similar business lending background. Knowledge of the business counseling and consulting process. Fluency in Spanish
