  • SUMMARY OF INCREDIBLE LEAVE/PAID TIME OFF: 3 Weeks Annual Leave for all FT non-faculty employees (Balance can be carried into next year); 3 Weeks Sick Leave and 1 Week Discretionary Leave for all FT employees; 1 Week Spring Break; 1 Week Thanksgiving/Fall Break; 1 Week Winter Holiday Break (it is usually a couple days MORE) all adds up to 9 Weeks. Add in 8-plus days off for Fridays in June and July and 4 other campus-closures for observation of holidays and it all adds up to 12 WEEKS of PAID TIME OFF! Other benefits include:


POSITION:  Coordinator, Accounting and Financial Reporting

Description of Duties: Responsible for all financial transactions and maintenance within the general ledger module of PeopleSoft, supervising support staff and performing diverse tasks requiring a good understanding of budgeting and fund accounting functions, organization and communication skills.  Maintaining financial and student financial information within PeopleSoft ERP system.  BUDGETING: Assist in preparation and maintenance of all organizational and departmental budgets to include but not limited to: Preparation of supporting workbooks and worksheets including salary reports, operating expense reports and other supporting documents.  Collaborating with staff at all levels of the institution to determine budgetary needs and implementation of changes.  Assist in preparing SRA-3 budget forms and supporting schedules. Entering and maintaining budgets in PeopleSoft and in the State system, including recording requested budget changes. Calculating and recommending changes to tuition and fees. Reporting on Budget versus Actual variances.  Assisting with preparation of all other budget surveys and budget needs reports as required.  FINANCIAL: Collaborate with others to ensure financial information recorded in general ledger is accurate and correct including but not limited to:  Preparing and recording general ledger entries as needed. Overseeing the recording of entries from sub-ledgers and system generated sources. Assist in all aspects of financial statement preparation including retrieval of information, analysis and reporting financial data in compliance with GAAP and GASB standards. Collaborate and assist other personnel with system design, maintenance and ad hoc issues. Establishing and maintaining internal controls to ensure operational and informational integrity. Creating, editing and presenting various reports as requested. AUDIT: Assist in all aspects of audit preparation and performance including but not limited to: Creation and preparation of various supporting workpapers, reports and schedules. Assisting other institutional areas with necessary audit preparations.  Interact with various auditors from both internal and external sources. Writing responses to questions and findings reported and MD&A portion of the final audit report. Designing and implementing changes to internal controls in response to audit findings. Reconcile statements and accounts, not limited to: Monthly reconciliation of Technical Area Education District cash. Review and reconciliation of various vendor statements prior to payment processing. Reconciliation of various accounts as necessary to ensure proper financial information. Collaborate and interact with all functional areas of the institution to ensure proper lines of communication are open and assisting in solving a wide range of issues, proactively.  Committee work and involvement is required as assigned. Attend state and local meetings representing the Executive Vice President or the Associate Vice President for Fiscal Operations.  Develop and deliver presentations regarding the College and Tech District's source of funds, use of funds, purchasing process, the issuance of bonds, etc. as requested by the Executive Vice President or Associate Vice President for Fiscal Operations. Perform other related duties as assigned. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. One-year practical experience in accounting, auditing, or finance in a public school, governmental or private industry environment including the supervision, training and evaluating of others. Experience in governmental fund accounting and budgeting processes. Demonstrated ability to work in an ERP system environment from data entry to information retrieval including ability to modify or write queries.  Ability to quantify, analyze and interpret financial data with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge and experience with MS Office modules including generating spreadsheets creating reports with charts.  Ability to present information clearly in written and/or oral format.  Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and external partners.  Moderate lifting up to 10 lbs. and moderate carrying up to 10 lbs.  Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping.   

Desired Qualifications: Advanced degree or certification is desirable.  Three (3) years practical experience in accounting, auditing, or finance in a public school or governmental environment.  Exposure to GASB standards.  Experience in governmental fund accounting and budgeting processes.  Proficiency with financials module of PeopleSoft ERP system.
