  • SUMMARY OF INCREDIBLE LEAVE/PAID TIME OFF: 3 Weeks Annual Leave for all FT non-faculty employees (Balance can be carried into next year); 3 Weeks Sick Leave and 1 Week Discretionary Leave for all FT employees; 1 Week Spring Break; 1 Week Thanksgiving/Fall Break; 1 Week Winter Holiday Break (it is usually a couple days MORE) all adds up to 9 Weeks. ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN THE LEARNING RESOURCES CENTER

POSITION: HEAD LIBRARIAN

Description of Duties: Responsible for planning and administering library services in the Learning Resources Center. The Head Librarian coordinates these services with the Dean, Learning Resources and Academic Outreach.  Submits recommendations on library policies and services in consultation with professional library staff. Coordinates library services with Dean, Learning Resources and Academic Outreach between library departments and other internal and external departments on campus. Analyzes and submits budget estimates and controls expenditures of approved budget for library services. Administers personnel policies and procedures.  Interviews and recommends job applicants to the Dean, Learning Resources and Academic Outreach. Writes grant proposals in collaboration with the RSC Grants & Contracts Office in support of RSC and LRC goals. Prepares various reports and surveys. Keeps patrons informed about new services, programs, and materials. Plans and implements library staff development and training programs. Represents the college in outside professional and educational organizations. Reviews and evaluates orders for books, periodicals, computer software, video and audio recordings, online services, CD-ROM, and other library materials. Examines trade publications and samples. Interviews publishers' representatives. Consults with college faculty and staff to select library materials. Works with faculty on program reviews and accreditation. Serves in reference capacity. Prepares bibliographies for faculty. Prepares materials for and conducts information literacy classes. Serves on college committees. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited university. Two years experience in a librarian related position. Familiarity with online library services and integrated library catalogs. Ability to present and direct seminars and workshops related to a library environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Some typing required, but speed/accuracy test not needed. Strong organizational skills. Use a microcomputer for office applications, research, and distance learning applications. Ability to delegate and manage multiple projects.

Desired Qualifications: Doctorate in Library Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited university. Five years experience in a librarian related position.
