POSITION: Graphic Designer
Job Description: Responsible for graphic design and brand management at Rose State College. This position will collaborate with members of the marketing team and other college divisions to plan and execute effective campaigns and marketing tactics. Reports directly to the Marketing Director. As a Graphic Designer at Rose State College, you'll be part of a marketing and communications team responsible for project management, social media, photography, content writing, marketing campaigns and much more. We're looking for someone who loves collaboration, has a passion for visual communication, and dreams of promoting higher education with their design abilities. Design various types of marketing materials for Rose State College including advertisements, posters, flyers, billboard designs, online marketing materials, annual reports, brochures, social media and website creative. Brainstorm and create visual themes for new marketing campaigns, events, and promotions within the vision of the brand. Work with stakeholders to design digital and print pieces for a wide variety of college promotions, from enrollment campaigns to website banners to campus signage. Maintain and implement brand guidelines across all work and promotional efforts. This will include organizing and building out the brand asset library as well as keeping design files and other creative assets organized to assure accessibility for ease-of-use, updates, and referencing by the marketing team. Assist with campaign planning, proofing, video editing, photography or any other related needs of the marketing and communications department. Solicit quotes for prepress and printing services in accordance with State and College fiscal policy and monitor other graphics staff on specification and solicitation procedures. Work with external vendors to locate products and services needed to accomplish projects. Review teammates' work and provide helpful design feedback. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Marketing Director. Work well with full-time professional, classified, part-time hourly and work study employees. Work under limited supervision. Receive training and guidelines from the Marketing Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Art, Public Relations, Marketing or related field OR equivalent professional Design or Marketing certification. Two (2) years' experience in the graphic design/marketing/creative arena. Please include a creative portfolio or a link to your past work when you submit your application. Demonstrated skill in graphic design for multiple mediums. Ability to effectively and harmoniously work with colleagues. Excellent time management based on projects prioritization and timelines. Ability to work well within constraints and stay positive in the case of uncertainty. Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and an intimate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat. Experience designing for digital or print and coordinating print production for booklets, brochures, and other print materials. Samples of work required. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-campus and to visit off-campus sites/facilities.
Desired Qualifications: Master's Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations or closely related field. Three (3) years of graphic design experience at a higher education institution or private sector. Illustration experience. Deep knowledge of the basics of marketing, graphic design and print publishing. Experience coordinating design and publication of digital promotional pieces. Other marketing skills outside of design are a plus, but not required.
