ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ANNOUNCES AN OPENING IN THE HEALTH SCIENCES DIVISION

POSITION: Assistant Director, Nursing Science

Description of Duties: Aid the Program Director in the proper functioning and evaluation of the program, support the Director with active involvement as a leader in developing, coordinate, and help supervise all aspects of the Department. Carry out all functions necessary and required for compliance with all regulations. This position is 60% administrative duties and 40% teaching responsibilities. Assist the Program Director to oversee and guide the Registered Nursing Program. Collaborate with Program Director to establish, review, and research policies, standard practices, and procedures with a focus on continuous quality improvement. Assist in facilitating and coordinating activities related to academic policies, personnel policies, curriculum, resources, facilities, services and program evaluation. Assist with ACEN accreditation self-study reports and accreditation site visits. Serve as a resource and support for Nursing faculty. Coordinate clinical learning experiences; tabulate and summarize program surveys. Assist faculty to schedule clinical rotations in My Clinical Exchange and update compliance requirements. Maintain communication with the clinical facilities including site visits as needed. Assist in recruitment, interviewing and orientation of nursing faculty and staff, reviews and maintains minutes from all program meetings and meets with students and faculty as needed. Assist in coordinating activities related to academic policies, curriculum, resources, facilities, services and program evaluation including assisting in managing faculty schedules and arranging substitutions or substitutes in areas of Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) approval. Respond to communications (e-mail, voice mail) on a daily basis. Ensure that all students receive the required hours of instruction, lab and clinical practices. Assist the Program Director to supervise full-time and adjunct faculty during all phases: classroom theory, skills labs and clinical rotations. Assist the Program Director to maintain program records and document faculty and curriculum meetings. Assist the Program Director to prepare the program's schedule and the clinical schedule with the appropriate faculty, on a semester basis. Assist the Program Director to complete all documentation and reports required by the Board of Nursing. Assist the Program Director to maintain and acquire the appropriate number of clinical facilities. Participate in accreditation self-studies and committees conducted by the college.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education, or administration. Minimum of one (1) years' experience teaching as an instructor in pre- or post-licensure programs (practical nursing, associate, baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree nursing programs). Minimum of four (4) years of continuous full-time experience, or equivalent as a registered nurse providing direct patient care in geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental health psychiatric nursing, obstetrics or pediatrics within the last five (5) years; or equivalent experience and/or education, as determined by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Light carrying up to 10 lbs and light lifting up to 10 lbs required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping.

Desired Qualifications: A minimum of one (1) years' experience as an administrator with validated performance of administrative responsibilities. Advanced MS Office skills preferred.
